Black Canyon Confidential

Sunday, 92/61 Sunny
A cattle hauler slammed into a herd of vehicles on I17 at Bumble Bee around 1. A total of 24 cars were involved, 17 injuries, 4 serious enough to require air-lift. Traffic tied up for 9 hours; ADOT closed the freeway at SR 69 to divert traffic.
None of the 90 calves were harmed in the making of this mess.
Chicken pot pie for dinner.
Ducks in a neighbor's yard having a party, sound like the Penguin from Batman.
Nightmares of Danny DeVito.

Monday, 88/66 Cloudy, Chance of Rain
I'd have the windows open but some idiot likes to burn palo verde or plastic or both. YUCK.
NB: The Dump is open Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
On a mission to find pellets for the wood stove. We can't pre-buy them from Walmart like we did last year. On-line, Home Depot says they'll deliver a ton for $79k. We go to Prescott Valley anyway. Lefty's is insanely packed, so we go to Chili's in PV for a bacon avocado chicken sandwich. I think they forgot the mayo.

Tuesday, 90/70, Sunny
HD can't delivery anything from PV to us. Customer Service is trying to convince me that Payson is the closest store (in actuality, another hour away), but can't delivery, either. Lowe's can for $129, but we don't want a pallet of something we've never used.
TJ came up and I made him a Chicken Caesar salad. He said I'd never made him that before, at least not like I served it today. I think he just never put any dressing on it.
He needed a haircut and all of them were shaved.
Since it's warm, had to water the citrus and the water was flowing nicely so they all got a good soaking.
Another accident on freeway, a truck blew out it's windows. Luckily it was between exits so TJ could escape town.
Chicken finger dinner at "Kid" Chileen's.

Wednesday, Same
Met Corinne for breakfast. The object was to hand-off 11 woobies to go to Luke AFB. The story is they are looking for baby blankets. I don't make baby blankets, per se, so they got what I make. We'll see if they want any more.
Paula needed some plumbing work. Good excuse to stop at El Encanto for a late snack of a chicken quesadilla and chips, washed down with the usual, natch.

Thursday, 95, Possible record temp, Cloudy
Freeway backed up this morning, no details. Just northbound this time.
Trying to figure out how to ship a single washcloth that I knit. I'd like to be able to sell them, but postal regulations are daunting. Could be as much as a Priority Flat-rate Mailer (6.45) for one! Hmm.
Find Sam's Club in PV offers the pellets we want at a decent price, but we're still going to have to go get it. We'll see.
Lots of bees huddled around the mums I potted for fall. I guess they like mums.
Hot dogs for dinner, baked beans, potato salad.
